11 Jan, 2022 / Good News

We are excited to announce that we are now an approved Online LAMDA Examination Centre!

Our Tutors provide excellent extracurricular tuition for Learners keen to improve their Public Speaking and Drama skills.

Whilst these skills are extremely beneficial for both personal and professional growth, did you know that some LAMDA Examination certifications can also ‘boost’ your UK university application? Keep reading to find out more…

What is a LAMDA Examination?

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art was established in 1861. It is one of the world’s leading conservatoires and the oldest specialist drama school in the UK.

LAMDA is also an examination board that delivers Public Speaking and Drama exams, ranging from Grades 1-8, with each exam being adjudicated by a specialist from the school. They work in much the same way as music exams.

There are a range of disciplines to choose from: Acting (Drama), Public Speaking, Speaking Verse and Prose… the list goes on! You can take some of these exams solo or in a group, depending on your choice of discipline.

LAMDA Exam courses available through Ludo Tutors:

Performance:

-Acting (Drama)

Communication:

-Speaking Verse and Prose

-Speaking in Public

LAMDA Exams and UCAS Points

As well as providing development opportunities, a LAMDA Exam certification can also earn you UCAS points, enhancing your application for UK universities. Grades 6, 7 and 8 are equivalent to the following UCAS points:

Grade 6 = 8 – 12 UCAS points

Grade 7 = 12 – 16 UCAS points

Grade 8 = 16 – 30 UCAS points

If you receive top marks in two strands of the LAMDA Exam syllabi at Grade 8, they can be combined to make up a total of 60 UCAS points: that’s equivalent to an A* Grade at A Level!

Why are Public Speaking and Drama so important?

Public Speaking and Drama are powerful tools that can improve a person’s ability to communicate effectively. Classes in these disciplines help empower children and adults alike: allowing them to develop self-confidence, creativity, empathy and strong interpersonal skills.

Both Martha, our Founder, and Edd, our Operations Manager, attended UK Drama Schools, so know how beneficial studying Performance and Communication can be!

There is no upper age limit for LAMDA Exams, so if you want to boost your confidence speaking English or improve your verbal communication skills, get in touch.
